Proctoring

Test proctoring is available for free at area libraries. Appointments must be scheduled at least a week in advance.

Guidelines for Proctoring Appointments

  • Proctoring is by  appointment only. Appointments must be made a calendar week in advance.
  • We can proctor school exams as well as simple certification exams that do not require expertise (real estate exams, appraisal exams, even some medical certification exams).
  • We cannot install specialized software on the library's public computers. You must use your own equipment for exams that require specific software.
  • You must bring current government or school ID to confirm your identity prior to your test.

How Proctoring Works

Request an Appointment

Proctors can provide one to two (1-2) hour exams, with three (3) hour exams available upon request. Depending on the proctoring location, the proctor may or may not be physically in the same room during the exam. If you have specific needs for your test, please contact the library branch to verify how proctoring works at that location.

  1. Fill out our scheduling form. Appointments must be scheduled at least a week in advance.
  2. Once your appointment is confirmed NPL staff will reserve a room for the exam, if needed.

Before Your Test

  • You must confirm that proctor information is given to your institution.
  • You must also verify that all preparations have been made to proctor the exam and that proctors know how to submit completed exams.

On Test Day

  • Arrive for your test.
  • The proctor will ensure the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test taking environment.
  • Take your test.

After Your Test is Finished

  • After a paper exam: Library staff will scan and retain your exam and provide to the website or email to school.
  • After an online exam: The student is responsible for submission of the results in presence of the proctor.
