Notary services are available at select library branches. Be sure to choose the correct branch when scheduling your appointment.

Documents We Do / Don't Notarize

Our free notary service is for simple documents that do not require special expertise.

Some commonly notarized documents include:

  • Sworn Statements
  • Powers of Attorney
  • Deeds of Trust
  • Rental Agreements
  • Copy Certifications
  • Beneficiary Designations for Retirement Accounts
  • Promissory Notes
  • Motor Vehicle Bills of Sale
  • Wills

Documents we cannot notarize:

  • Real Estate Transactions (e.g., mortgages, refinancing, Quit Claim Deeds)
  • Notary Protests
  • Vital Records (e.g., birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce papers, death certificates)
  • Employment Eligibility Verification
  • Homeland Security I-9 Forms
  • Documents in languages other than English
  • Auto titles without buyer address and name (state law requires this section be completed, regardless of circumstance)
  • Medallion Signature Guarantees (Gold Medallion Stamps)

Preparing for Your Appointment

  • Please arrive within 15 minutes of your appointment time.
  • Make sure all documents are completed and ready to be signed signature.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.
  • If you need witnesses, please bring them with you (consult an attorney to see if witnesses are needed).
  • Note: We cannot offer electronic or remote online notarization.
