"The Red Room"
An English writer nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times, H.G. Wells was prolific in many genres and is often called the Father of Science Fiction. But wasn’t Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, the book that really launched the genre of science fiction?
Well, that argument aside, we will turn our attention this evening to Wells’ story “The Red Room,” in which an overly confident visitor seeks to square off against the powerful superstitions of an ancient house by entering a room with a horrible reputation.
We might add here a touch of whimsy and note the last words of H.G. Wells, which were, “Go away; I’m all right.”
And now, turn down the lights, and join us for “The Red Room” by H.G. Wells….
