The Golden Globes are almost here! This annual award show exists to shine a light on the best international films and television. The Globes are beloved for celebrating projects that have earned a high commercial success while also sharing the spotlight for projects that deserve more recognition. Let's take a look at last year's winners that you can watch for free with your library card!

Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy Poor Things (2023)

An account of the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter.

Best Motion Picture - Non-English Language Anatomy of a Fall (2023)

Anatomy of a Fall has one of the best scenes in recent history that has stuck with me all year. The performances are great and the look at how the legal system operates in France will have you curious how other countries courts work in general.

Best Motion Picture - Animated The Boy and the Heron (2023)

This movie was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is bright, adventurous and filled with symbolism. Follow Mahito as he deals with the aftermath of his mother's death and adjusts to his new family in a dreamy/dangerous world.

Cinematic and Box Office Achievement -Barbie (2023)

Of course Barbenheimer was the talk of the 2023 summer and both are Golden Globe award winning movies. Barbie is a dream with its use of colors, capturing the zeitgeist of the moment and being a commercial success of unexpected heights.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture -Drama Cillian Murphy Oppenheimer (2023)

Oppenheimer is a dramatization of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer who was a driving force behind the US developing atomic bombs.

Revisit this one in the comfort of your own home, or finally take the time to watch it and let your friends and family know what you think of it.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy  Paul Giamatti The Holdovers (2023)

The Holdovers has a a vintage look right out of the can that makes it feel like its always been around. The story follows three characters over Christmas break in a New England boarding school.

Check it out and add it to your Christmas watch list!

Best Television Series -Drama Succession (2018-2023)

The HBO drama Succession came to a close in 2023 and its impact was all over the internet. The Roy family drama played out over four season and each was incredibly well received and beloved by their fandom.
