What Do I Need to Know About These Programs?
Through partnerships with youth development organizations in Nashville, youth can apply for afterschool activities that cover a wide array of topics, from homework help to fun activities that grow social, emotional, and STEAM skills and more, across 35 elementary, middle, and charter schools.
The types of activities and number of slots available depends on the program. Sample activities offered by different organizations include visual and performing arts, sports and physical fitness activities, cooking and nutrition classes, STEAM activities, environmental education, career exploration, service projects, homework help, and field trips to local cultural centers. Many of these programs offer youth leadership opportunities within programs.
Because the programs are funded by NAZA, they are offered at no cost to 5 – 8th graders and their families. All participants are eligible for a free snack or meal. Select locations also offer transportation home after the program.
For now, all programs are offered in-person. To maintain safety for youth, parents/caregivers, and program administrators, health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
