Just kidding. Some people are dog people and some people are cat people. That’s ok. Personally, I’m a cat person. But my brother has two of the cutest dogs you’ve ever seen (no, seriously…one is a golden doodle). Today, in honor of healing this rift, I’m going to offer you two movies about cute pets and you can decide which one you like better.
Did you know that there’s a cat show circuit? Being a fan of the furry animals that purr, I was intrigued when I saw this one pop up in our cat-alog (lol - get it?). This documentary follows the top two cats in the Canadian cat show circuit. Bobby, a Turkish Angora, owned and shown by Kim Langille comes in as the favorite. About a third of the way through the season, Oh La La, a Red Persian owned by Shirley McCollow, shows up and starts to make things interesting. In my opinion, both cats are gorgeous.
The cats in this documentary are fun. The people are a little weird. It takes a lot of work to show a cat and that takes a certain kind of person. I am not that kind of person. I just want to show up and play with the cats.
The doggie documentary I offer as a counterpart follows the lives of a litter of Labrador puppies as they go through the process to become guide dogs for the blind. We meet Patriot, Potomac, Primrose, Poppet, and Phil on the day they are born and we can watch them develop. For the first couple of months, they get basic training at the facility where they are born. Then they are given to families to raise/train. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Pretty sure I would not be good at that. Then the puppies come back to finish their training at the school.
If a puppy doesn’t do his/her job, then they don’t become guide dogs. It was interesting to follow all five puppies to see where they ended up (no spoilers). Also, these dogs are pretty cute. Even though I’m a cat person, I think I liked this documentary better.
Ok friends. Pick your poison. Cats. Dogs. Both. You really can’t lose either way.
Happy petting…
:) Amanda
