Childcare Centers & Preschools

Bringing Books to Life! helps teachers find fun and innovative ways to promote books in their classrooms. Together with teachers, we strive to inspire children to want to read.

Preschool Literacy Program

The Preschool Literacy Program is our main partnership opportunity for childcare centers and preschools. Any child care center in Davidson County that enrolls children ages 3 to 5 in a full-time preschool or pre-kindergarten program may participate. Child care providers or teachers at participating centers are eligible to receive up to 6 professional development hours.

There are three components to the Preschool Literacy Program:

  • In-service days (teachers)
  • Story times and a visit from the Puppet Truck (children)
  • Workshops and other resources (parents)

Puppet Truck

The Nashville Public Library Puppet Truck delivers free, literature-based puppet shows by performing artists from the library. The Puppet Truck is available for organizations and events. Shows are appropriate for all ages, pre-K to seniors. Contact us for more information.
