There was lots of excitement around here this week when our own Liz Atack texted us on Tuesday from Washington, DC: “I just won an award!”

Liz was chosen as the Toyota Family Teacher of the Year by the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), a nonprofit that supports programs that help adults and children learn together, including support for literacy and family engagement. Liz, who is the manager of Bringing Books to Life, was the first library representative chosen in the 17-year history of the award.

As a result, our program will receive $20,000 from the NCFL to enhance our literacy work with families in Nashville. Congratulations to Liz! We are so very proud of her.

Check out her most recent shout out in the School Library Journal.
