Save that trickster! Help Anansi!

In the Caldecott Honor book Anansi the Spider by Gerald McDermott, Anansi’s sons help to save their father, and they were named by what they did best:“See Trouble”, “Road Builder” or “Game Skinner”. Invite your children to choose names for themselves by what they can do well, or what good qualities they have. Your child might be “Color Painter” or “Train Rider” or “Belly Laugher”.
Come up with a story about your new spider, and invite the children to illustrate the story using shapes just like McDermott does in the book. Anansi gets into all kinds of trouble! How can you rescue him? Now there’s a great book you can make!
